South Shore South is South Shore Theatre Experience's BRAND NEW repertory theatre company bringing Broadway, off-Broadway and original plays to the Grand Strand area in South Carolina as well as our own yearly  "Once More from the Top" program which will offer performances performed primarily by seniors.

We will be offering Broadway play selections, new & old, Original works, murder mysteries, magic,

Deborah Cascio Plezia  is the founder, owner and previous Artistic Director of South Shore Theatre Experience since 2009. Currently, she has formed and  is Artistic Director of South Shore South, a new repertory theatre company performing in and around the Myrtle Beach area. She has been involved in theatre for close to 50 years and has designed, painted and built sets, run lighting & sound boards, managed props, stage managed, written for theatre, produced, directed, acted and has costumed at most theatres on Long Island in New York. She has performed regionally and Off-Broadway and has starred in the world premieres of many shows as well as the Long Island premieres of such shows as "Breaking Legs" (Angie), "Spiked Heels" (Georgie), "Catholic School Girls" (Maria Theresa), "The Convertible Girl" (Christine), "Four Dogs and a Bone" (Brenda), "Love, Loss & What I Wore", "Wicked Sisters" (Meridee), Shooting Star (Elena), and "Sylvia" in the title role to name a few. Favorite roles include "It Had to Be You" (Theda), "I Ought to Be in Pictures" (Steffie), "The Pavilion" (Keri), Born Yesterday (Billie), "Steel Magnolias" (M'Lynn) and "Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike" (Sonia) ... She has also worked in TV, commercial print ads and narrated the Channel 21 Emmy award winning documentary "Let's Talk About Sex" hosted Gabrielle Cartaris. She has taught theatre classes for adults and children for over 20 years. She has worked as drama advisor/ director/ costumer in many Long Island schools. She also started and ran a 5th grade theatre program within the school district that raised money for Senior Scholarships for over 8 years. Deborah also volunteered for many years with the Scholarship Committee for a local community theatre group and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as a counselor/ mentor. She was named Best Costumes for SpongeBob the musical and Best Play for Silence the musical (which she directed) in Broadwayworld.com 2023. Deborah has studied acting with HB Studios, Stella Adler and Suffolk Community College. She also studied at The School of Visual Arts, NYC; Phil Black Dance, NYC; and Eglevsky Ballet. She is a former ballroom instructor for Fred Astaire Dance Studios. She recently completed filming a feature film with an expected release in 2026 and has a recurring role on the new hit series, The Fontana's. She is also a sponsor and judge for NYLIFF ~ New York Long Island Film Festival, now in it's 8th year.  Deborah resides in Conway, SC with her husband, Ted,  and their pups, Bella & Bruno. She has three grown children and one granddaughter. For the past year, she has been acting , directing and serving on the board for Dream House Theatre in Myrtle Beach, SC.  She is ecstatic and blessed to be able to continue to bring quality theatre and productions to the Grand Strand area.

Ted Plezia is the former Executive Producer and a founder of SSTE. He has been involved in magic and theatre for over 40 years. He, also, has stage managed, designed sets, has written and produced for Long Island Theatre. He has starred in the Long Island premieres of "Greetings" (Mickey) and "Ragtime" (Willy Conklin) as well as world premiere plays such as Cruise to Switzerland.  His "Storytime Magic" and "The Magic of Thaddeus" has been featured on Fios 1, and in LI Parenting and Good Times magazines. He builds many of the illusions you see in his shows. He has performed to sell out crowds for years at the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center with his family oriented original magic shows. He was a founding member of The Parlor of Mystery, Long Island's ONLY ongoing magic show for adults that  new shows every month and performed with them regularly. He recently finished a very successful run of his new parlour show, Life's Little Mysteries for which he won BroadwayWorld.com Best Solo/ Cabaret act on Long Island 2023. With Deborah, they operated "Partners in Crime", their own murder mystery company for private events and restaurants in the tri-state area and still offer this service to fundraising for local organizations. Since moving, Ted has been involved locally performing magic with I.B.M. Ring 334 Grand Strand and acting and building sets for Dream House Theatre. In his spare time he loves fishing, exploring and spending time with his granddaughter.

Barbara Doczy caught the acting bug in 2007, and since then acted in dozens of productions in central CT and Myrtle Beach, several student films, and a music video.  Her favorite roles include Julia in “Lend Me a Tenor”, Truvy in “Steel Magnolias”, Elaine in “Arsenic and Old Lace”, and LouAnn in "Messiah on the Frigidaire". Most recently, Barbara could be seen acting at Dream House theater in “Rumors” and “Abercrombie St at 7:30pm”.  Backstage, Barbara has been stage manager, assistant director, and tech. Barbara’s training includes workshops/classes in CT at Drama Works Theatre, Hartford Stage, Present & Perform, and Actor’s Gym.  Barbara moved to Myrtle Beach in 2022 and is loving every minute of it.

Jill Bennett, a Southern California native, was most recently seen as Cassie Cooper in Neil Simon’s Rumors and John Blenn's Abercrombie Street at 7:30pm. After a successful career in advertising, she dedicated the past twenty years to raising two wonderful children with her dreamy husband. Now embracing the empty-nest chapter of life, Jill is thrilled to return to the stage. She has appeared locally with Carolina Improv and in productions such as The Great Gatsby, The Odd Couple: Female Version, and Curtains Up! Jill is honored to be part of the South Shore South family and deeply thankful for the love and support of her fellow actors, crew, and this special theatre community.

Allison Black is a native of Horry County and has been a thespian since childhood. Her latest performances were playing various parts in Abercrombie Street at 7:30pm and  Cookie Cusack in Neil Simon’s Rumors with Dreamhouse Theatre. In 2023, she was in Romantic Comedy with Dreamhouse, and prior to that, she played Gert in California Suite with Open Curtain Theatre in Myrtle Beach. She’s performed in several productions with the Theatre of the Republic in Conway as well, to include The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Blythe Spirit, Boeing Boeing, Exit Laughing, and The Outsider. Allison also has been moonlighting by stage managing and running lights and sound for various shows. By day, Allison is an attorney for the Horry County Department of Social Services handling child abuse and neglect cases. She lives in North Myrtle Beach with her fur baby.

Trip Jones is excited to be a part of South Shore South Repertory Company . They graduated from Shenandoah University with their BFA in Acting and are proud that this is part of their first step after college. They just finished a very successful production of Abercrombie Street at 7:30pm and they are exploring many acting opportunities that  Grand Strand has to offer. Trip would like to thank their family for their unwavering support. Trip is also a very big esports enthusiast.

Piper Napolitano is thrilled to be a part of South Shore South. She is an elementary school student and made her stage debut in Abercrombie Street playing the roles of Phoenix and Mara, and has loved learning her parts and being on stage. In her free time, Piper enjoys riding four-wheelers and drawing.  She is looking forward to more acting opportunities in the future.

Steve Manz  is a self-employed accountant and owner of The Books Add Up, LLC, where he dedicates his days to helping business owners master financial literacy. While he spends his 9-to-5 ensuring the numbers balance, he discovered in early 2024 that his true "balance" is found on the stage. Steve’s theatrical journey began with the Carolina Improv Company, where he sharpened his quick wit and love for the spotlight across four high-energy shows. He soon transitioned to scripted works, showcasing his versatility in productions such as Abercrombie St. at 7:30 (Justin Glieber, Mike the Stripper), Zahna (Sal, Agent #3), and A Valentine’s Revue - For the Love of Hamlet. Audiences may also recognize him from his character work as Grandpa Jones in the Cornfield County Jubilee or his comedic turns in This Time Together: A Tribute to the Carol Burnett Show and A Christmas Carol—Almost. Highlights & Training: Completed Workshops I, II, and III in Improvisation, and the "Do the Work" acting workshop.  Steve is always ready with a quip, a limerick, or a well-timed anecdote, Steve lives to find the light side of every situation—and every character.

Paul McCarthy has extensive experience in Grand Strand professional and community theater. He has performed in numerous shows at the Dream House Theater, RigaTony's, the Asher Theater and Stage Two Theater Company, and played lead roles in "Finnegan's Farewell" with the Lancaster (NY) Regional Players.  Paul creates custom videos as "Almost Sean McDermott" on Cameo.com.  He also provides a singing service, "Broadway Classics Sing-Along," for local elder care facilities.

Vicki Moag is a local children's author, mom, wife, and  academic coach . She is excited to join South Shore South. She was recently thrilled to be back on stage playing various parts in Abercrombie Street. Vicki is also a member of the board of directors at Dreamhouse Theatre and has participated in past productions including Dicken's Christmas Carol, Corporate Heaven and Zahna working behind the scenes as stage crew and costume designer. She is excited to be back on stage again and lending her talents.

Thea Sieben  A seasoned theatre professional, Thea has over 30 years of experience in theatrical design and performance, with a focus on costume design for the stage as well as specialty prop creation, stage management, and administrative performing academy oversight. Currently retired as owner and president of T.S. Innovations and Design, a theatrical production company, servicing multiple theatres including Dream House, she has worked on over 400 successful productions providing an expansive range of services. As an artistic director to a regional touring company for many years she has a proven track record of successful productions, including the introduction of Nickelodeon’s Blues Clues to the stage for its initial NY debut, and is dedicated to fostering artistic excellence and community engagement through innovative programming."

Allen C. York  was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he first learned to appreciate a good story—whether it came from a stage, a book, or a neighbor with a talent for exaggeration. Allen retired to Horry County after a twenty-year career in the United States Army including three combat tours for which he was twice awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He now works as a professor of history with Liberty University by day but loves the opportunity acting offers to bring engaging characters and lively stories to the public. Performing gives him a chance to spark imagination, share laughter, and connect with audiences in ways only theatre can. Allen is honored to once again be part of such a dedicated team and to create memorable moments for the community.

Sarah Whisner is a Ohio native who transplanted to Myrtle Beach in 2012. She has performed in many shows having most recently been a part of the cast of Abercrombie Street at 7:30pm.  Other performances include Corporate  Heaven and ZAHNA at Dream House Theatre. Outside of theater, her passions include reading, physical fitness, playing her flute, hanging with friends and family, and going to the beach. She has had a blast with with these actors in this repertory company, and looks forward to working with them all again soon with South Shore South.
